Topics Covered:  introduction to the following:
                 if statements and switch statements.
                 The last four examples are from the text.
                 We will go through them in more details as the semester goes along.
                 

Chapter 3  covers if statements, compound if statements, etc. Home work due
           sep 15 does not require if/switch statements.


Exercises:  Take the examples from the notes, modify them and see what 
            happens.  End of each chapter there are exercises, go through
            them.

Reading:  Read chap4; next week we will cover loops
