Topics Covered:  introduction to the following:
                  Fundamental data types (chap 2)
                  Expressions and arithmatic operators
                  Assignment statements, Strings
                    
                 We will go through them in more details as the semester goes along.
                 

Chapter 2,3 covers the above topics


Exercises:  Take the examples from the notes, modify them and see what 
            happens.  End of each chapter there are exercises, go through
            them.

Reading:  Read chap3  and go through all the examples.
